The conical is the most ancient form of the Roman chasuble, based as it is on the ordinary dress of the citizens of Rome in the early centuries.  All other chasuble shapes have evolved from this.  The conical is characyterized by its graceful folds and elegant simplicity.  (click on an image to enlarge it.)
